Function Pods
Function pods are used to extract and display specialized content typically entered in a module and are highly specific in their formatting.
According to how the module contents need to be displayed, one or more functions will be created to extract and appropriately display the content. Typically, a that the administrator can choose from... providing flexibility and variety within specific constraints.
For example:
The News module starts with at least two functions: Recent & Featured Headlines and Recent Articles.
The Recent & Featured Headlines function shows just headlines of the most recent articles OR those which have been marked as 'featured,' provides a link to where the user can read the full article, and automatically sorts the headlines by date. Among other things, the administrator can specify how many articles this function shows.
The Recent Articles function shows all the articles (featured or not) sorted by date. If the number of articles contained in the module exceeds the number of articles the administrator chooses to display, this function will automatically create an article archive which can be browsed by any user.
These functions both utilize the same content, but have different actions and belong on different pages.
