"Normal" content

Normal page content formatting is done within the 'regular' pod type. It can vary widely from page to page (even pod to pod) and can dramatically affect how the page is seen by your site's users.cms pod editInsert

Apply a style to the entire pod

cms pod editInsert - podstyle
A style can be applied to the entire pod (vs. some of its characters). Pod styling can apply predetermined rules to specific portions of the pod and its children. Pod styles become especially powerful when combined with nesting (pods inside of pods) and can create very different displays.

Header -- Add text and styling

cms pod editInsert - header
Add header text and a style. Styles correspond with HTML header styles (<h1> through <h6>) and their appearance is determined by the site's general style sheet.

Another option is to change the pod's format from the default (paragraph) to a bullet or numbered list. When using either of the list formats, separate each list item by two line breaks in the body area.

Body -- Add text, inline styles and characters

cms pod editInsert - body
Text can be typed or pasted into the body area from another application.

Add inline styles

  1. select your text in the body area

    click the "Basic Formatting" button

pick the desired style from the list

More about inline styles.

Body -- Add links (internal, external, email)

cms pod editInsert - links
Much like adding basic formatting with inline styles, links can be added to virtually any piece of text in a pod.

Add inline styles

  1. select your text in the body area

click the "Links" button. Note: the pod must first be saved before a link can be added to it.

pick the desired link type from the list and follow the prompts

Body -- Add assets (files, images, movies, etc)

cms pod editInsert - assets
A number of assets can be added to a regular pod. These include files (.PDF, .DOC, .PPT, etc), images (.GIF, .JPG, .PNG), Flash files (.SWF), and Flash movies (*.FLV).

Each asset has its own series of prompts which step you through the process of adding them. Note: If an asset has already been used, it is not necessary to re-upload it to the server; it can be selected from a list.

Smaller versions of the uploaded images are automatically created by the CMS to help maintain visual consistency throughout the site. You can preview and select the size that best fits your needs. Smaller sizes can only be created from .JPG and .PNG images; images can not be enlarged automatically.

Basic guidelines for images:
Resolution = 72 dpi/ppi (RGB color)
Photographic images should be saved as JPG files (.jpg)
Line art/illustrations should be saved as GIF files (.gif)

Additional Customization

There are a number of ways to continue customizing a pod's content (and thereby, the entire page). You can:
