Modules

Modules allow administrators to store and edit specific kinds of content. This content is then displayed on a page via one or more function pods.

The Events/Calendar module is a good example of a common module. Content for this module repeatedly consists of the same basic information: date, title, and description (at the simplest).

An administrator could manually list this information with standard pod content. This method will only work if there are just a few entries. If there are more than a few, it becomes a maintenance nightmare.

However, when this specialized content is stored in a module, the data can be automatically displayed (via a function pod) and manipulated automatically according to some preset rules — requiring only that the administrator provide the correct content.

Module content is entered via standard web forms unique to a given module that are specifically crafted to facilitate the data-entry process — prompting the administrator with what's needed, and reducing the amount of work that needs to be done for each entry.
